The best hotels in Lima for every travel budget

Pacific Ocean views, archaeological sites and one of the best culinary destinations in the world, Lima is a vibrant city that invites you to stay a few days. When it comes to finding a hotel in the Ciudad de los Reyes (City of Kings), you’ve got plenty of options. From art filled mansions in Barranco to cool and friendly hostels, these are the best hotels in Lima for every travel budget.

Luxury:

JW Marriott

Nothing beats the location of the JW Marriott in Lima, it’s one of it’s best assets and it has many. Spectacular coastline views and centrally located, it has the Larcomar shopping mall that has excellent restaurants, shopping and entertainment only a few steps away. Of course this global chain is well known for its excellent service and comfort and this location is no exception. Every room has oceanfront views, great bedding, an espresso machine and more. The La Vista restaurant is famous for its breakfast buffets on Sundays and the JW Sushi Ceviche Lounge has one of the best Pisco Sours in town. Our favorite feature of the Marriott is the heated rooftop pool and terrace, it offers  beautiful views of the Pacific Ocean that at times will make you forget that you’re in one of the busiest cities of South america.

Belmond Miraflores Park Hotel

Sitting right on a clifftop, in a quiet area of the Miraflores boardwalk is the 81-room Belmond Hotel. With floor-to-ceiling Pacific Ocean views and elegant in its decor, the spacious rooms offer extremely comfortable beds, Illy coffee makers and complimentary shoe-shine service. The luxurious Belmond is minutes away from Miraflores and Barrancos main attractions, but you can stay in and enjoy lunch at the hotel terrace in the restaurant Tragaluz, popular among locals as well for its peruvian and international cuisine or a have a spa day overlooking the ocean. End the day with a view of the Lima coastline, at their rooftop terrace with a perfectly made cocktail in hand.

Sonesta El Olivar

For another luxury option in Lima, consider the Sonesta El Olivar Hotel. Located in the residential and financial district of San Isidro, overlooking the enchanting El Olivar park.

Rooms are very spacious with fresh flowers, minibars and more. We love the Sonesta because of its long list of amenities: a business center with free coffee and cookies, a fitness center, a beauty salon, a barbershop, a rooftop pool, two restaurants, and 24-hour room service.  The clientele is mostly business travelers but it’s a great option for tourists because of its proximity to restaurants and shops.

Boutique:

Hotel B

This beautiful mansion was built in 1914 as the summer getaway of then-president Augusto Leguia, in the bohemian Barranco district. Original and funky art is strategically placed to wow you at every turn.

The spacious rooms on the second-floor have soaring 16-foot ceilings, white Italian marble bathrooms, plush king beds, and private balconies. In house amenities include a rooftop sundeck with a plunge pool, and a restaurant, bar and lounge that feels like an Old World European café, yet offers wonderful Peruvian-Mediterranean dishes. Art lovers will rejoice in this boutique hotel that mixes old and new in the most stylish way.

Casa Republica

Casa Republica Barranco opened just a couple of years ago  after an extensive renovation of a mansion built in the 1920s. This colonial style mansion is an elegant boutique hotel in Lima’s bohemian and increasingly upscale Barranco neighborhood. The Casa Republica has a restaurant, where breakfast buffet is offered every morning, an al fresco bar and a garden. The location is wonderful if you want to be close to hip bars, restaurants such as the famous Central and museums like Mario Testino’s MATE. Take advantage of  the hotel bicycles to explore everything Barranco has to offer.

Budget:

Selina

The enormously successful chain of nomad-focused hostel/hotel/coworking spaces has opened a couple of years ago in Lima and is the best budget option in Lima. Selina is a beautifully decorated hostel that focuses on meeting with other travelers with the frequent events they offer in their playground area. They offer private rooms, a communal kitchen, cinema room with Apple TV and local channels, free WiFi, and a yoga room! Its located in the hip Miraflores district and you will find a very wide range of restaurants, museums and bars. Selina is a hostel with great prices but it has the look and feel of a trendy hotel.

Near the Airport:

Costa del Sol

Located inside the Jorge Chavez International Airport, the Costa del Sol airport offers convenience and comfort. From the terminal to the front door, this is the most convenient option if you are looking for a one night stay near the airport. The free drink they offer upon check is very welcome after a long flight. Rooms are available nightly or by hours if you want to rest between a long layover. Enjoy the 24-hour fitness facilities, indoor pool, jacuzzi, sauna and steam room. Every convenience you need to rest and recharge in a hotel connected to to the airport but so calming that you forget.

Holiday Inn

Right across from the Jorge Chavez International Airport is one of the most well-known and respected chain hotels, The Holiday Inn. The 8 floor hotel has soundproof windows, 24 hour room service, a restaurant and a bar. They also offer meeting and event rooms, a fitness center and of course the friendly service they are known for. Children staying in the hotel receive a complimentary meal and transportation to the airport is offered 24 hours.
