Starting with a visit to the colonial city of Arequipa, this itinerary takes you to the Colca Canyon and continues to Lake Titicaca, visiting the islands and learn about the people, with their unique handicrafts. The journey ends in Cusco with a visit to the surrounding Inca archaeological remains and the impressive Machu Picchu.









Transfer from your hotel in Lima to the airport for the one-hour flight to Arequipa. You will be met there and transfer to your hotel. Lunch on your own. Afternoon city tour of the “White City” (Ciudad Blanca) as it is known. Colonial buildings made from volcanic rock, are complemented by a visit to the Santa Catalina Convent. Dinner on your own. Overnight at hotel. NO MEALS


After breakfast, travel to the Colca Canyon. Drive through the Valley with beautiful view of the Chachani Volcano you´ll arrive in Chivay, free afternoon to roam around the village. Lunch included. Dinner on your own, overnight at a local hotel. B/L


An early visit to the Cruz del Condor, a high watch point for this giant Andean birds and the impressive view of the Colca Valley. Continue towards Puno crossing the wide expanse of the Altiplano. We visit the “Chullpas” (burial towers) of Sillustani enroute, located overlooking a small lake. Dinner on your own, overnight at a local hotel. B/L


Full day visit by boat to Taquile Island, box lunch included. On route we will see and experience the Titicaca National Reserve, a wetland area formed by the lake as the rainy season increases its level, visiting the floating islands of the Uros. The island of Taquile, in the middle of Lake Titicaca, is a paradise of peace and beauty. Dedicated to agriculture and weaving, the isolation has allowed its inhabitants to maintain their traditions almost intact. Late afternoon return to the mainland. Overnight at hotel, dinner on your own. (Optional homestay available on request, extending the program by one day). B/L


After breakfast, transfer to the bus terminal. A 9 hour bus ride on this stretch of your journey takes you to Cusco, the capital of the Inca Empire, over one of the most picturesque landscapes in South America as we cross the Altiplano and slowly descend into the Vilcanota Valley. We will pass colorful villages such as Pucara, and visit the archaeological site of Raqchi. Lunch en route, arrive in the afternoon and transfer to your hotel. Dinner on your own. B/L


Breakfast, morning free to roam this city, a great area to walk around, visit museums and shop, lunch on your own. Afternoon city tour of Cusco and a visit to the ruins in the proximity: Sacsayhuaman, Kenko, Puca Pucara and Tambomachay. The city tour will include entrance to important Inca and Colonial buildings. Return to your hotel. Dinner on your own. B


Breakfast and transfer to the station for the train ride to Machu Picchu depending on available schedule. This may entail a bus ride to Ollantaytambo. The train ride follows along the Urubamba River, also known as the Sacred Valley of the Incas. Full day guided excursion to explore the lost citadel of the Incas & visit the most spectacular sections of this “World Heritage” site. After lunch on a local restaurant, return to Cusco in the evening and transfer to your hotel. Dinner on your own. B/L
