Every year

We will leave early either from Puno or Juliaca to reach the community of Llachon, located in the Capa Chica peninsula. We will cross the reserved area, passing through the villages of Huata and Coata until we arrive to Capachica, main village of the Peninsula. From there we will get to the shore with great views of the coastline. We will arrive at Llachon community and be introduced to our local hosts, leave our luggage and relax at the shore of the lake until local lunch is ready. In the afternoon, we will have some time to explore the hills and surroundings of the peninsula, where we will meet local farmers, shepherds, weavers and kids hanging around. Early arrival to our homestay for dinner and sharing with the local family. L/D

After breakfast we will have a short briefing session and receive the appropriate safety equipment to embark on our three to four hour sea-kayak adventure. Paddling first along the coast of the peninsula, with spectacular views of the shoreline scenery, farmlands with local crops and the local people plowing their lands and feeding the cattle. In the way we will meet trout farms, fishermen and reed forests that are home for native and migratory birds. We leave the point after an hour and cross the lake towards the island of Taquile. On arrival we disembark, store our kayaks on shore and spend the rest of the day after lunch exploring the island and meeting the local people, who will share their culture and traditions with us. Overnight at a rural lodge overlooking the lake with beautiful views of the Cordillera Real. B/L/D

This day will begin with a typical breakfast in our homestay, and then we will walk to the coast, stretch our bodies and start our full day kayaking adventure. After a couple hours paddling we will arrive to Amantani Island, with a rocky landscape and nice white-sand beaches, a great place to have our snack and recover from an active morning. After a relaxed time in the beach, we will get back to the kayaks and paddle for approximately two more hours to Tikonata, a beautiful and isolated little island located very close to the lake coastline. We will stay at the island rural lodging or camp at the beach. B/L/D

In the morning we set off our campsite and kayak shortly to the main coastline, where our mountain bikes will be ready to ride. We will ride ups and downs on a dirt road that will take us through the village of Capa Chica and then we will reach the town of Juliaca. With big crowds and streets full of commerce, we will bike through this populated city to finally find a clean paved road on our way to Lampa, our day destination. Box lunch on route and dinner at arrival to our colonial style staying in “La Casona”. Our local host will show Us the beauties of this “forgotten” town in the middle of the Altiplano, such as the amazing cathedral and the most valued replica of La Pieta”, from Michelangelo, as many other stories and legends. B/L/D

This is an extremely beautiful mountain biking route, as it has a combination of natural attractions and a smooth biking trail. Leaving Lampa in the morning with our bikes, we will head to the north riding across the Malaga farm, where the trail leaves the town away and immerse into the isolated Altiplano. We will bike for two hours until we reach the lagoon of Ajoyani, full of ducks, Ajoyas (lake name) and other local and migratory birds, we will rest for a while and enjoy this natural show. Then we will keep riding up, passing through the detour for Palcca and Vila Vila (where stone grinder used to work 500 years ago) and will finally reach the pass, where we will get great views of the Tinajani Canyon. There starts our downhill bike across a massive forest of “Puya de Raymondi”, an giant endemic plant from Peru and Bolivia, which flowers once each 80 years, another natural phenomenon of this area. After biking for one more hour we will arrive to the magical place of Tinajani, where sand stones shaped by the wind, show us unreal images and faces. The bus will pick us up and take us to Racchi home stays, where the locals will kindly receive us and host us for this night. B/L/D

The home stays are located besides the archaeological site of Racchi that was an Inca Temple of the Sun, with big columns and doors of more than 10 meters. There are also corrals for the alpacas, houses for the local people and “colcas” or storages to keep safe and fresh all the produce of the area, like potatoes, quinoa and alpacas. After breakfast we will discover the archaeological area and then drive the bus for about 3 hours to the city of Cusco. Arrival to your hotel or start of another part of you trip. B/L
