Certified Environmental Commitment
Our Environmental Management System which includes social responsibility in our sustainable practices has been certified as an ISO 14001 process in 2003. In 2006 our EMS was audited and re-certified.
We encourage camp procedures, which will minimize footprint on the environment, by mitigating unavoidable environmental impact i.e.: by using clean fuel (gas) instead of kerosene. We presently pre-process food and vacuum pack the basic ingredients of the meals to minimize solid waste, carrying out all packaging and solid waste generated during trips, to the point of origin.
Safety
We have a 24-hour emergency contact number for operations in Cusco, Lima, Huaraz, Puno, Arequipa and Quito.
Our health and safety record is among the best in the business. In the case of health problems during the operation of trips, we have always evacuated or treated these cases. We have emergency procedures in place and contingency plans for our guides.
For adventure travel, we have yearly training courses for guides and field staff to review health hazards. A complete first-aid seminar is provided to minimize risk and in case of incidents, adequate administration of medicines can be provided.
Every year we run a complete refresher course to revise and establish new menus, introduce modifications to the food processing and packaging, and review hygiene procedures to minimize any health risks. All water used in food preparation captured from existing water-sources is filtered and boiled.
Our office and sub-contractors make sure the hotels we use have adequate safety features like fire escapes and first aid kits as well as doctors on hand. All our vehicles carry a first aid kit and in higher altitudes, full day and longer excursions we have oxygen available.
Comfort
We supply comfortable, clean and functional equipment, imported from renowned manufacturers that guarantee quality and comfort, delivering a standard of service difficult to find among other operators. Our staff is trained to maintain and service all equipment not only in the warehouse but out in the field. We always send spares, a tool kit and supporting material in case of a storm or other natural events or accidents which could affect the equipment's performance.
