Alternative Inca Trail 5D/4N

On the slopes of Antapampa, north of Cusco, lies the terracing complex of Zurite, located near the village of Huarocondo. From here the trail winds slowly onto the high plateau with fantastic views of Mt. Salkantay and Verónica, to Ancascocha and down the Silgue Valley, ending at Camicancha. After this amazind trek the program ends with the visit to Machu Picchu Sanctuary

| Day 1 CUSCO / PARPISHU / CHILIPAHUA |
Leaving Cusco by bus we go through Huarocondo and head down the narrow Pachar valley towards
the Urubamba river valley. At 3,100 m we will arrive at a footbridge of Parpishu, starting point of our trek. From here the trail starts ascending
slowly, leaving the valley behind us. The trail continues to the pass of Watuq'asa (3,900 m.) where we have lunch and then continue on. We will see an
Inca wall and Tambo known as Qosqoq'awarina (the place where we can see Cusco) that surrounds the pass. Here, we´ll have and amazing view of
Mountain Pumahuanca, Chicon and Veronica. From here the trail descends to the left ending at a small valley with a stream running through it called
Anapahua, we continue over to Chilipahua - a small community where we camp. |

| Day 2 CHILIPAHUA / ANCASCOCHA |
We leave our campsite and head northwest, slowly ascending past some small houses at Incaraqay - a community of sheep herders on the high puna. From here a one hour hike will bring us over another Pass at Pampaq'asa (4,200 m.) down into the gulley of the Silque River to then reach a little village called Ancascocha (3,900 m.). Here we are in full view of Mt. Huayanay and the Silque Valley. |

| Day 3 ANCASCOCHA / CAMICANCHA |
After breakfast start trekking downhill on a narrow valley full of “Huakanki” the
famous big and red Masdevalia orchid. The trail descends making zig-zags, beside a small but torrent stream. After crossing many little bridges,
we`ll reach the community of Camicancha, where we will camp in a nice volcanic rock area, with a view of “Mt. Veronica” snow capped
mountain. |

| Day 4 CAMICANCHA – OLLANTAYTAMBO / MACHUPICCHU |
Vehicle transfer to Ollantaytambo train station for your two hour ride down the Urubamba river as it changes from mountain vegetation to cloud forest, arrival at the station of Machu Picchu Village. Transfer to your hotel. Free afternoon. (Depending on train departure an optional visit to the Ollantaytambo with a walk through the village and ruins can be included- entrance fee to the ruins is not included). |

| Day 5 MACHU PICCHU / CUSCO |
A half hour bus ride will bring you to the citadel for a guided visit which on average takes three hours as your official guide walks you through the different sectors of the hill-top citadel, with astonishing views, telling you aspects of life here that will take you back in time. Lunch on your own and in the afternoon return to the village where the train will return you to the Sacred Valley (Hotel overnight and dinner on your own). |

Transportation to beginning and from end of trek, a bilingual guide, all meals, two man tents, camp gear; dining and kitchen tents; pack animals, kitchen crew, and first aid kit. It also includes entrance fee into the citadel, a guided tour on day 5, lunch that day and the transfer to your hotel on returning. Train tickets round-trip Ollantaytambo/Machu Picchu/Ollantaytambo.
