Leaving early either from Puno, or Juliaca we enter the road to Llachon at Illpa, passing the villages of Huata and Coata. The road follows the lake shore and we pass two communities until we reach the village of Llachon, our embarkation point. After a briefing we embark on our three to four hour sea-kayak adventure until reaching the beach at Tikonata Island, an uninhabited island where farmers from the peninsula come to work the land. Next day we cross over to Taquile Island, disembarking on its southern tip, hiking along the island to the main square and visiting the village. On our third day we proceed to explore the coastline of the island and then head across the open water again returning to our starting point at Llachon. |

| Day 1 PUNO OR JULIACA / LLACHON / TIKONATA |
| |
| Leaving early either from Puno or Juliaca we enter the road to Llachon at Illpa, passing the villages of Huata and Coata. Here we enter the peninsula of Capa Chica, arriving at the main village of the same name. The road follows the lake shore at this point and we pass two communities until we reach the village of Llachon, our embarkation point. After safety briefing we receive the appropriate safety equipment and embark on our three to four hour sea-kayaking adventure. Leaving early from our beach by sea-kayak we will start the day hugging the shoreline along the Capa Chica Peninsula until we reach the tip. Continuing along the shore we then cross the bay of Ccotos, around the second tip and continue along the shore until reaching the island of Tikonata. Along the way we will stop for picnic lunch at a beach or using our support boat as a base. At the island we disembark and stay at a local rural lodge with a chance to hike around the island and its beautiful ambiance. Tikonata is uninhabited mostly, only at a certain time of year, do people come to harvest from across the bay. (Sea kayaking: 4 hours). |

| Day 2 TAQUILE / TAQUILE |
| |
| Today we paddle across the open water and past small rocky islands over to Taquile Island, disembarking on its southern tip and hiking along the island to the main square. Visit the village and in the afternoon settle into our rural lodge for dinner and overnight. Beautiful views of the surrounding lake-shore including the Cordillera Real on the Bolivian side of the lake
(Sea kayaking: 3 hours).
| |
| Day 3 TAQUILE/ LLACHON |
| |
| We proceed to explore the coastline of the island and then head across the open water again returning to our starting point at Llachon. If we are lucky with the prevailing wind behind us we will complete this leg of the journey with little effort. On arrival, lunch at Llachon before returning to the mainland from the peninsula (transportation not included .This can be either by vehicle or by boat which costs about US$ 85)
