The city of eternal spring, as it is known for its marvelous weather year-round, has a wonderful mix of ancient cultures, colonial architecture and festive people. The area was inhabited by the Mochica and the Chimu cultures, which have left wonderful vestiges of their existence, such as Chan Chan, the largest adobe city in the Americas, capital of the ancient Chimu kingdom and a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1986.
A newly discovered tattooed mummy of a powerful empress buried with her many treasures in the Huaca del Brujo recently attracted world wide attention as one of the most fascinating discoveries in South America in recent times. With wonderful beaches, delectable sea food and impeccable traditions, Trujillo is one of Northern Peru’s most emblematic cities.
