Located in a rich, agricultural region, it is a city with a warm climate. The city turned into an important commercial center in the northern Peru, and has no appreciable colonial attractions.
An active city in process of modernization, Chiclayo is at the center crossroads to many places – Cajamarca, Chachapoyas and Piura. Intense trade between the coast and the Andes, the cloud forest and the Amazon basin. Many of the recent discoveries of the Moche and Lambayeque kingdoms can now be visited with modern recently built site museums at Sipan, Sican, Tucume and el Brujo.
