Over the years we have received many awards, some of them regional (in Cusco and Huaraz) some of them National and other International, below is a listing of them.

In 2003 we received a Certificate of Recognition from GREEN GLOBE, an organization now based in Australia.

From the year 2002 until 2005 we were awarded a trophy by the Direccion Regional de Turismo of Cusco -DIRCETUR in recognition for being the best National Adventure Tour Operator.

In 2006 we received an award at the National Level from the Federation of Private Sector Enterprises (CONFIEP), through its Sustainable Committee called PERU 2021, as the second best CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) company in the service sector.

In November 2007, we received the Virgin Holidays Responsible Tourism Award in the category of BEST IN MOUNTAIN ENVIROMENT at the World Travel Market in London, UK.

Our founder and President Alfredo E. Ferreyros received the Life-time achievement award of ATTA (Adventure Travel and Trade Association) in the same year in Seattle, Washington.

Rainforest Alliance

As affiliates of Rainforest Alliance we recently qualified to receive the Status of "Verified" and can presently use their logo together with their verified symbol. This has been achieved by going through a revision of a series of requirements that included criteria, standards and best practices as a Tour Operator.

We are therefore proud to have achieved a new standard which was launched at an Internacional event held in Guatemala on the 28th of September.

ISO 14001

Is an environmental management standard. It specifies a set of environmental management requirements for environmental management systems. The purpose of this standard is to help all types of organizations to protect the environment, to prevent pollution, and to improve their environmental performance.
Explorandes obtained this certification in 2003 as the first tour operator in the Americas having an environmental quality certification because of our Environmental Management System. This certification is audited every year and has been recertified twice since then. It means that we have an ongoing system that mitigates and manages the environmental impacts we cause as a result of our activities in adventure travel.

Virgin Holidays Responsible Tourism Award

Since 2004 the Awards have celebrated change and innovation in the tourism industry by recognising tourism ventures, individuals and destinations from all over the world with inspiring approaches to responsible tourism.

The aim of the Awards is to celebrate innovation and inspire change – and in 8 years we have attracted over 10,000 nominations from members of the public, leading to 201 unique organisations awarded from 51 countries around the world.

Responsible Travel
