This short trek begins at a rarely visited Inca site called Pumamarca and traverses spectacular inter-Andean valleys filled with queñua forests, spectacular lakes and high mountain scenery. Over the high pass we begin our descent past farmlands and more queñua forests towards the colorful community of Patacancha, where the traditional way of dressing has changed little in the past centuries. We finish the trek at the Textile Center of Huilloc, a project where traditional weaving techniques are being rescued, preserved and taught to young people of the community. All the textiles are made using natural dyes and fibers. |
